I am already back in Manila; but this was me working on the field in Davao last week. #WorkIsLife
4 days and counting in Davao
Saan daw ang laro ko, dahil kakulay ng raincoat ko ang mga atleta ng #seagames2019 😂 Pero ang totoo kasi, pumasok lang sa work kahit may bagyo #TyphoonTisoy
These bags are just some of the products from Project SOW or Solidarity with Orphans and Widows. They are handmade by women, who despite having been thrown in the deep end of struggles still persists in their toil for better tomorrows. This is the first story I've worked on that is related to the EJK or extrajudicial killings in the Philippines. It isn't entirely about the war on drugs; instead this is the story of the families left behind of those who died. Although the orphaned and innocent families suffer the brunt of this crisis, the support and assistance available to them are still extremely lacking. It is then immensely inspiring to find a flicker of hope in one of the poorest and most affected areas of Oplan Tokhang. In Payatas, Quezon City is #ProjectSOW, which has been helping EJK families by providing them with psychosocial and livelihood support. In the midst of the Philippines' bloody war on drugs, the project gives hope to those who must feel the most lost. P.S. This is the first story I’ve worked on with the award-winning broadcast journalist and our host Ms. Kara David. I’m still kilig! ☺️
